PROGRAMS
Apparel Innovation Apprenticeship
The Apparel Innovation Apprenticeship at the Ferrara Foundation is designed to equip young adults with essential real-world skills crucial for various hands-on fields. Located in Long Island City’s dynamic MFG Building, this program introduces participants to key technologies and techniques such as CAD for designing 3D parts, basic machine operation, factory workflow optimization, and product design tailored for manufacturing processes. Graduates of this apprenticeship will possess practical, transferable skills that are applicable across multiple job sectors, enhancing their employability and readiness to contribute effectively in the workforce.

PROGRAMS
Textile Recycling & Sustainability
A workshop series that teaches participants how to recycle and repurpose textiles, focusing on sustainable practices in the fashion industry. The workshop will focus on material sciences & sourcing, green energy requirements, designing products for recycling, and methods for reusing fabric.

Technology Integration in Apparel Manufacturing
Seminars and hands-on labs that introduce advanced technologies like AI, robotics, and IoT in the manufacturing process. These courses focus on specific topics, introducing real-world applications of advanced technologies in adjacent industries to inspire ideas & potential adoption in apparel production.

PROGRAM
Cultural Heritage & Craftsmanship Program
Workshops that focus on traditional crafting techniques, blending them with modern designs to create unique products. The workshop will show craft and handwork techniques, such as double face construction, bound buttonholes, hand done sleeves, and handworked buttonholes. This is for students with existing sewing experience that want to learn more about traditional tailoring techniques
